San Antonio's Church Under the Bridge opens $1.3M facility to care for homeless
A nearly 9,000-square-foot structure near downtown serves 900 meals each week and stands as a tribute to a determined congregation — and as an example of how city ordinances can shape a church's development.
Church Under the Bridge started beneath a highway overpass 15 years ago. It moved to a former tavern and then a warehouse. It's still dedicated to evangelizing to the homeless, but its own transience ended last fall when the $1.3 million facility was completed.
