StandUp for Kids - San Antonio
The mission of StandUp For Kids is ending the cycle of youth homelessness. StandUp for Kids is a national organization carrying out their mission through volunteers who go to the streets to find, stabilize and help homeless and street kids improve their lives. There is a program in San Antonio and they are doing amazing things for the homeless kids in our community.
StandUp for Kids supports a myriad of programs aimed at keeping kids off the streets. The Don't Run Away Program includes presentations by high school and college members to junior high and elementary school students in hopes of teaching them how to remove themselves from abusive situations. The Don't Run Away program reaches out to encourage kids not to run away.
The StandUp for Kids outreach programs help locate and assist homeless and at-risk kids on the street. It includes an outreach center, a street outreach program and help with transitional living.
Further, StandUp for Kids connects with school
counselors or liaison from the McKinney-Vento Homeless
Assistance Act to encourage them to give us the chance to
help these students in need. They connect with school

the empty backpack back on Monday to be refilled for the

StandUp for Kids also provides any other basic needs that need to be met to support these at risk kids. They are committed to making a difference in the San Antonio community. Visit them on the web at www.standupforkids.org where you can volunteer or donate and make a difference in the life of a child.
